The Pilbara Project consists of seven target areas with historical tantalite and tin production. Ten Exploration Licences totaling over 610 sq km comprise the project with two granted tenements E45/2287 and E45/2312.
The initial focus of the region was the Pilgangoora tenement E45/2287 where anomalous rock chip and soil samples up to 390ppm Ta were returned with a number of results in excess of 50 ppm Ta.
Haddington's immediate strategy in the Pilbara is to assess Pilgangoora E45/2287 and E45/2312 Woodstock for all mineral commodities as well as hard rock pegmatite resources. A swarm of pegmatite veins run parallel to the granite contact with the greenstones of the Warrona Group. This tenement covers the western alluvial covered portion of the field with significant quantities of alluvial/eluvial tantalite and tin previously mined from these narrow pegmatites.
The work program for the Pilbara district will involve generative programs for gold and basemetals within E45/2287 and greenstone terranes within E45/2312.
The orderly progress of the applications through the DOIR (Department of Industry and Resources) grant process will enable Haddington to undertake a comprehensive data review and first pass geochemical exploration to generate prospective drill targets.
In May 2008 Haddington entered into an Option Agreement with Atlas Iron Limited which allows Atlas to target channel iron deposits (CID) within the tenements display on the map to the right. Atlas is proposing to undertake extensive drilling of the titles when granted.
